DAY 1

Tuesday-Thursday Free Time (2:30-5:30) activities will feature: ropes course, pool, canoes, ax throw, rifle range, archery, dodgeball, basketball, ping pong, 9 square, snack shack, and ETBE Store.

Each day your color group will go to the same location for Break Out Bible Study.

Those locations are as follows:

Blue/Green - Lodge

Red/Yellow - Cedar Meeting Space

Breakout Topics/Teachers:

  • Adam Shafer / John the Baptist / “The GREATEST of all Men born of Women”

  • Rusty Mott / Solomon / “The WISEST of all the people”

  • Jimmie Neel / Moses / “The most HUMBLE man on the face of the Earth”

Today after our Opening Orientation you will be sent out by colors with your Service Squad member.  When you guys get to your meeting room we need you to accomplish 4 tasks.

  • The first task will be to do the ice breaker game “Time Bomb Name Game”.  In this game you will form a circle and go around twice with everyone saying their name.  Then, throw a tennis ball to one of your students. They have two seconds to say someone else’s name and throw the ball to them, before it “explodes” and they are out of the game. Continue until only one student remains.

  • The second task we are asking you to do is come up with a cheer for your team.  The more unique the better.  Every color group will perform their cheer tonight at Late Night.  The team with the best cheer will receive points towards the raft draft.

  • The third task is to decorate your flag.  Our Launch staff has provided each color with their own flag and a package of sharpies.  So go nuts!!!

  • Finally, we want you guys to spend some time praying for each other.  You can have just 1 person pray or a few people pray or the whole group pray.  You can take prayer requests or not.  However you want to spend this time praying is up to you.  But some things that you can definitely add to your list are a fun and safe week, lives to be changed, people coming to know Christ, our speaker Stephen, our music leader Craig, our Launch staff, and the other groups.

  • We really hope that this time with your color group will be special.  Remember that you will get out of it what you put into it, so make it a great time with your students and the other churches in your color group.

This year we again will be competing in our color group challenge however, instead of it being the opening challenge it will be Late Night Challenge. Your color group will meet in the tabernacle to open late night then you will be sent to a designated area to complete all challenges. You will be assigned a Service Squad Member to your group to oversee your challenge and keep your time. Your color group will have a box at your location that will have all the supplies needed to complete all of the challenges. Your Service Squad member will briefly explain the rules and how the challenge will work. When they say go, they will begin a timer and your team will begin trying to complete the challenges as quickly as possible.

Challenges must be completed one at a time. THEY CANNOT BE DONE MORE THAN ONE AT A TIME. Make sure the Service Squad member is observing and approves the completion of each challenge.

Once your group has completed all of the challenges, your Service Squad member will write down your time and turn it in to Zach or Jared. The aim is to have the shortest time of all the groups. Points will be given towards the Raft Draft for later in the week!

The goal for this is to have fun, to work as a team, and to try and spread the work around and make sure that everybody that wants to gets a chance to participate. We hope you enjoy your time competing in Late Night Challenge 2024.  Good Luck and Godspeed!!

The locations are as follows:

Red Team - Huff

Green Team - Holly Meeting Space

Yellow Team - Cedar Meeting Space

Here's an overview of Stephen's message for tonight:

“The Greatest of Confessions” Matthew 16:13-20

Big Idea - It really doesn’t matter what other’s opinion of Jesus happens to be, but your opinion of him affects everything in your life and future. Jesus is either exactly who he claims to be and is therefore, worthy of our worship and obedience... Or Jesus is a liar. So, who do you say that the Son of Man is?

Feel free to use the following discussion questions during your church group share time tonight after worship:

1) What are some common ideas people have about Jesus that may not come from the Bible?

2) How do those unbiblical ideas affect the way we approach God?

3) Why can’t confession be disconnected from actions of obedience and worship?

4) What does confessing Jesus as Christ and God look like when no one else around you does so?

We have merch! If you or your students want some Launch branded items, including custom colors for your color group, check out our merch table in the foyer of the Tabernacle.

The following list is the Church Group Meeting Locations for after Worship Services. Please make sure you are familiar with where your assigned location is before church group time tonight (check it out before dark). We have a lot of churches and not a lot of indoor meeting spaces, so we had to combine some spaces and put some groups outdoors. Please don't take another group's assigned location.
